About Us
A community built on love and loss.
Triangle Pet Loss Support Group was born from the simple truth that grief for an animal is real, profound, and deserving of the same care and community as any other loss.
Our Story
Where Triangle Pet Loss Support Group began.
In early 2026, a small group of people found themselves connected through shared loss — each of us had recently said goodbye to a beloved animal companion. We had all been cared for by Dr. Camille Sherrod, a mobile pet palliative and hospice care veterinarian who had walked alongside us through some of the most tender and difficult moments of our lives.
Dr. Sherrod invited us to gather for a memorial suncatcher-making workshop — a beautiful, hands-on ceremony where we could incorporate the ashes of our loved ones into something lasting and luminous. In that afternoon of quiet fellowship, something unexpected happened: we began to talk. Really talk. About our grief, our animals, our memories — and how much it meant to be in the same room with people who understood.
Many of us were already seeing therapists, and some had joined online pet loss support groups. But there was something irreplaceable about being together in person — the warmth of shared presence that no screen can fully replicate. We recognized a void in our area, and we decided to fill it. The Triangle Pet Loss Support Group was born from that afternoon of light, ash, and connection.
Our Approach
Not therapy. Something different.
Triangle Pet Loss is a peer support group, not a clinical therapy program. We don't offer diagnoses or treatment — we offer presence, understanding, and community.
Our facilitators are trained in grief support and deeply familiar with pet loss personally. They create a container of safety and warmth so that every person who walks through the door feels genuinely welcome.
If you are also working with a therapist or counselor, our group can be a wonderful complement to that work. Many members attend both.
What We Stand For
Our values guide every gathering.
Unconditional Compassion
Every loss is valid here. We honor the depth of the human-animal bond without minimizing or comparing grief.
A Safe, Confidential Space
What is shared in the group stays in the group. You can speak freely, cry openly, or simply sit in silence.
Peer-Led Community
Our group is led by people who have walked this path themselves — not a clinical setting, but a circle of understanding.
No Timeline for Grief
Whether your loss was last week or several years ago, you are welcome. Healing does not follow a schedule.
Your First Visit
What to expect on a Thursday evening.
A warm welcome
When you arrive, you'll be greeted by a familiar face. There's no paperwork, no intake form — just a seat in a circle of people who understand.
Sharing at your own pace
You're never required to speak. Some people share stories about their pet; others simply listen. Both are equally valuable.
Guided conversation
A facilitator gently guides the evening — offering reflection prompts, holding space for silence, and ensuring everyone feels heard.
Connection and community
Many of our members have found lasting friendships here — people who truly understand the love you had for your animal.
In Loving Memory
The ones who brought us here.
Each member of our group carries the memory of a beloved companion. This gallery is a small tribute to the animals who are deeply missed — and forever loved.
